Pennsylvania Chemicals is a world-scale facility that will use ethane to produce 1.6 million tonnes of polyethylene per year. The project will involve up to 6,000 workers during its construction and is expected to employ 600 permanent employees when completed. The ethylene / polyethylene complex will be in the Ohio River Valley north of Pittsburgh. It comprises an ethane cracker and three polyethylene units, plus OSBL including a gas-fired combined cycle cogeneration unit and a large storage-in-transit rail yard.

Role Overview

The project is employing an approach to its execution which includes modules that will be assembled at contractor fabrication yards by a team that includes the contractor and Bechtel staff. Applicants for this position shall have industrial experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below. The position is located in an industrial port area nearby the city of Tampico, Mexico. Security controls will be in place for this work location.

Provide a wide range of administrative support to field engineering and construction staff. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Meet regularly with managers to stay abreast of key issues and coordinate workloads

  • Serve as translator (English/Spanish) to support staff in routine and business communications.

  • Compose and prepare routine and technical correspondence (letters, email, memos), conference notes and meeting minutes, and other related documents using Microsoft Word.

  • Schedule meetings, teleconferences, and business engagements based on knowledge of manager’s commitments and priorities

  • Coordinate meetings, trainings, and other events. Make catering arrangements

  • Organize material for meetings, presentations, and training sessions

  • Coordinate domestic and international travel (air and ground); prepare detailed itineraries; and complete expense reports using Concur

  • Coordinate complex logistics and security for traveling employees

  • Order supplies

  • Serve as liaison between Bechtel and subcontractor for technical issues such as progress reports and data sheets

  • Reconcile Purchasing Card (PCard) statements

  • Answer phones, screen calls and visitors

  • Maintain files (hard copy and electronic)

  • Participate in the development of presentations using PowerPoint

  • Prepare regular and special reports as requested including timelines and forecasts

  • Interface with subcontractor and their technical staff

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings/conferences/entertainment, arrange for facilities, equipment and catering

  • Must possess intermediate to advanced Microsoft Suite skills

Previous experience in similar position preferred. Previous experience working with industrial construction preferred, but

not required.
