Job Summary:

Focus on applying advanced expert level knowledge of product, market, pricing, purchasing, delivery, and disposition of materials/inventory in developing and implementing strategies that successfully manage the effective integration of key processes and people of assigned product line(s) to achieve the defined results in support of meeting customer requirements and Avnet initiatives. Such activities may include the following as well as other duties as assigned:

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Sets goals and manages the performance of Product and Material employees.

  • Communicates with management to ensure integration of the materials planning and inventory activity with sales and marketing organizations, providing internal and external information regarding requirements to meet plan targets.

  • Communicates industry and product trends, changes and opportunities to senior management.

  • Participates in cross functional communication with other Asset groups in price negotiation, market pricing, and market knowledge.

  • Stays current on knowledge of changing supplier policies and procedures, and when necessary communicates these to the appropriate people.

  • Determines and communicates the material supplier plan execution strategy that supports the sales budgets and achieves improved market share/sales volume in each assigned area or region.

  • Maintains and monitors metrics for assigned product lines, performs analysis and identifies improvement opportunities.

Job Level Specifications:

  • Manages subordinate managers and/or highly skilled specialists who exercise significant latitude and independence. Often oversees one or more departments or related units.

  • Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect departments and subordinate work units. Interprets company-wide policies and procedures. Develops budgets, schedules and performance standards for one or more departments. Controls resources and policy formation in area of responsibility.

  • Assignments are defined in the form of long-term objectives. Decisions are guided by resource availability, functional objectives and independent judgment.

  • Interacts frequently with internal and external management and senior level customer representatives. Leads meetings and briefings for internal and external representatives. Must often coordinate efforts between functional areas or members of an extended project team.

  • Decisions have extended impact on the outcomes of multiple departments or units. Erroneous decisions or recommendations result in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations, and cause substantial expenditure of additional time, human resources, funds and jeopardize future business activity.

Work Experience:

  • Typically 10+ years including 5+ years of management experience

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
