Job Purpose:

The desk is now hiring for an equity derivatives trader, reporting directly to both Head of Latam Derivatives Trading and Head of Mexico Equities.

Job Background/context:

Citi's Mexico Derivatives Trading business focuses on managing the risks of Mexican single stocks and index names. It covers the whole spectrum of business lines, including flow, light exotic and corporate equity derivatives.

Within Citi Markets Global Equities, this is an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced Associate / junior VP level trader to join our emerging markets equity derivatives business. This opportunity is a market-making role, which will involve providing liquidity to Citi’s client base and risk management of related portfolios. The covered portfolios include vanilla and exotic options. The hired candidate will be an integral part of a global team, while working with senior traders in NY and Brazil. The candidate will be responsible for contributing to managing the risk on the portfolio while continuing to win more client business and market both vanilla and exotic trade ideas.

Key responsibilities:

Trading: managing the risk of Mexican index and single stock names positions.

Assist and work alongside the CED desk in executing structured transactions.

Be proactive in developing new business with retail clients and CPB in Mexico.

P&L, risk monitoring and internal reporting.



Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative degree, Engineering or Mathematics preferred.

Fluency in English and Spanish is a must. Portuguese would be a plus.

Quantitative and analytical skills required for trading.

Advanced MS Excel.


A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience

Equity related trading background preferred.

Strong options’ technical knowledge, including both vanilla and exotics products.


Strong mathematical and analytical skills required.

The candidate will also need to have strong risk management skills and deep understanding of the equities market.

Good communication skills will also be needed as the candidate will be having direct communication with internal clients on regular basis.

Proficient excel skills required.

VBA skills are strongly recommended.

Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment.
