Latin America Risk Analytics (LARA) is a Risk Management Unit in charge of proactively managing the credit portfolio for the Institutional Client Group in Citi. LARA functions integrate credit analysis, monitoring and portfolio management, working in coordination with business to grant credit.

Credit Analysts in LARA engage in the following activities:

  • Participation in deal teams for credit related transactions. Main tasks include preparation of greenlight and transaction approval memos, conducting due diligence, building cash flow models and doing sensitivity analysis. Close interaction with coverage and product teams.

  • Portfolio management: developing a forward-looking view of the portfolio and the industry covered, understanding the credit process, staying on top of credits, anticipating developments and reacting to news, escalating credit concerns/updates to senior risk and business managers and proposing risk mitigation strategies. Ensure that extensions of credit reflects Citi portfolio risk tolerance, and are in full compliance with credit policies, target market criteria, product programs and all relevant internal policies and applicable regulations.

Building good and effective working relationships with various teams across the bank (Bankers, Risk Managers, Analysts, Credit Risk Management Services, Capital Markets, Legal, Product partners, etc).



4-6 years of experience in Credit Analysis


  • Knowledge of accounting and corporate finance.

  • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Self-starter with ability to work under time pressure and observe deadlines.

  • Very adaptive to change and capable of multitasking.

  • Ability to influence credit decisions, negotiating with partners, approvers, and other areas, stating a strategic vision of the credit and providing solutions for client and business needs.

  • Solid knowledge of credit products and the impact of the area in business results.

  • Ability to read scenarios, to observe market movements, and to work with high sense of urgency.

  • Ability to easily teach / provide guidance to junior analysts.


MBA desirable (Finance, Economics)

Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or Engineering.
