Job Purpose:

The Local Accounting Policy unit is responsible for the country policy enforcement and ensures that Citi's business activities are in conformity with mexican generally accepted accounting principles (MexGAAP) and IFRS. Local Accounting Policy lead also plays an integral part in the Mergers and Acquisition process at Citi regarding local impact. The position need to facilitate the proper implementation of new accounting standards, disseminates information on current accounting topics and recent developments that affect Citi locally and acts as a source to obtain recent presentations and communications with external organizations, auditors and regulators.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To lead the oversight of the attendance of local accounting treatment for any transaction where accounting assistance is needed for banamex bank or its subsidiaries.

  2. To lead the implementation of ifrs 9 during 2017, 2018 and 2019.

  3. To negotiate and influence the local regulator and other banks in order to develop and implement local accounting policy and standardize with usgaap and ifrs, and to interact with global accounting policy.

  4. To lead the oversight of the gather, analysis, communication and assurance implementation of changes in local regulatory accounting that may impact banamex bank and/or its subsidiaries.

  5. To lead the identification risks and give technical support for local accounting purposes related to products and services that are presented in different committees (and other internal forums) as cpac and npac, for banamex bank and/or its subsidiaries. additionally, approve the accounting treatment for product approval programs.

  6. To lead the oversight of accounting disclosures in annual audited financial statements according to local regulatory accounting of banamex bank and/or its subsidiaries.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other related areas. Master's is preferred.

  • 6-10 yrs. of experience, Experience in Accounting, Controllership or Finance.

  • Experience in Financial Institution

  • Managing and overseeing staff

  • Accounting, Financial Statements, Regulatory Reports, Mexican Banking Regulation, among others.

  • Mexican Accounting Rules (National Banking and Securities Commission Accounting Rules), Banking Regulation (Circular Unica de Bancos).

  • the role requires knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards “IFRS” and also USGAAP

Skills:

  • General communications skills focused in technical accounting concepts/transactions in spanish and english and high level of discretion.

  • Communication skills and ability to negotiate and effective decisions-making. Orientations to results and teamwork.

  • Ability to react to regulatory changes. Be able to adopt changes, communicate and coordinate to different participants involved.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Spanish and English proficiency.
