Job Description

Senior MCD/SCCM Job Description

Provide support, implementation, and design services for Microsoft SCCM 2012 and Windows-based Client Operating systems. This role requires commercial customer facing level, subject matter expertise with SCCM and Managed Client Devices in a Microsoft Windows environment.

Should be able to coordinate requests, test and release of patches and software in a global environment. Responsibilities would include: managing requests for new patch deployments, software deployments through standard defined processes, development and implementation and improvement of those processes, coordinating and executing change control processes that apply to the deployment of patches and software deployments, communications to customer management and end-users as necessary, tracking and reporting on status and success of all deployments, identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.

Candidate must be proficient and experienced in coordinating the execution of standard ITIL release management processes for patch management, software application deployment, and User Acceptance Testing and Large Scale deployment coordination via automated distribution tools (SCCM). Must be a Subject Matter Expert with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM 2012). Knowledge of PowerShell and VB scripting is highly recommended. Knowledge of Microsoft MDT best practices is beneficial. Customer interaction and communication skills (written and verbal) are essential to this position. Ability to respond and interact with management stakeholders regarding escalation of customer inquiries. Strong SCCM infrastructure management knowledge\experience required and strong troubleshooting skills in a large global environment.

Key Focus and Objective for Role:

  • Lead steady state and continuous improvement efforts for SCCM and Windows Client Devices.

  • Serve as a top tier escalation point, provide guidance and direction for resolution of escalated issues

  • Liaise between customers and cross functional teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions

  • Review and oversee major changes to the SCCM infrastructure

  • Create and maintain system documentation

  • Design, diagnose and administrate SCCM components and Windows Client Devices

  • Own and lead discussions in customer facing information technology solution implementations, upgrades, enhancement and conversions. Recommends solutions as appropriate

  • Responds daily to customer queries for information, instructions, updates and requests in a timely manner

  • Researches and develops work level instructions, process flows, and any required customer facing documentation

  • Produce and present reporting to customer and internal teams as scheduled or upon request

  • Makes recommendations to solutions team for automation and cost savings opportunities

  • Cleanup and Organization of Application Packages (This is the ‘what' of the distribution and can be anything from a software package to a command line), Collections (This is the ‘who' of the distribution and is where you specify who receives the update. Collections provide a way to manage users, computers, and other resources in your organization), and Advertisements (This is the ‘when' of the distribution and is how you specify when the update runs)

  • Implement Monthly Desktop Patch Management Process to ensure up-to-date and accurate patch management (Versions, Releases, Service packs)

  • Implement SCCM overall System Health and Reliability Processes

  • Standardize Software Distribution Processes (Understand which software distribution strategies are available and how to configure them, Create collections for software distribution targeting, Create software distribution packages to target computers, users or user groups)

  • Standardize OS Imaging and Deployment Processes

  • Create and Standardize reporting features for compliance and distribution

  • Create templates for OS Image creation, Site Integration – work effort and costing estimations, and standard documentation consistency

  • Continually provide architectural feedback to teams outside client engineering

  • Use SQL Reporting Services to provide enhanced reporting capabilities

  • Provide guidance and recommendations on SCCM Server Sizing. Review and resolve low space issues on Distribution Points.

  • Work closely with Client support teams to provide support and recommendations for new project requests

Methodical Competence:

  • Strong presentation, communication, organization, multitasking, and time management skills required as needed for US based customers

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization including internal and customer facing senior leadership and executive level.

  • Excellent English written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to meet key deadlines, solid analytical, problem solving, and consultative skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail

  • Demonstrate industry leading experience on identifying and implementing industry best practices.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain customer satisfaction

  • Highly motivated and results oriented

Functional /Technical Competence:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline required

  • Microsoft based Certifications highly recommended

  • Minimum 10 years overall IT experience, with 5-10+ years of direct experience primary focused working with SMS/SCCM

  • Expert level PowerShell scripting skills required

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience representing a technology company, as their primary customer facing SME for Managed Client Devices

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience of engineering, developing, deploying, and maintaining business critical systems including hands on solution development and implementation experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience of working with a large enterprise distributed computing environment for multiple customers.
