Function background/context:

Internal Audit is a global organization of over 1000 professionals covering Citi's global businesses and service to clients and customers in over 180 countries. Citi's Internal Audit division provides independent assessments of the company's governance, risk management and internal control environment for key stakeholders including the Board of Directors, senior management and Citi’s numerous regulators globally. Internal Audit is a change agent within Citi aimed to enhance the control culture of Citigroup worldwide and thereby support senior management decision making around the globe.

Job Purpose:

This role participates in the timely delivery of high quality; value added assurance and audit reports for a portfolio of business activities, which meet the requirements of the Boards of Citigroup and Citibank, their affiliates and of Citi’s respective regulators, globally.

Citi Cards business represents 10% of the total assets worldwide and represent roughly one third of the income, in Mexico the Cards business contributes with more than one third of the EBIT and is the second in the local market in terms of assets and sales, it has around $7Bn in Average Net Receivables and comprises 2 legal vehicles, Tarjetas Banamex and Servicios Financieros Soriana. This business is the flagship product for Citi and Banamex locally and is the most profitable at the local level.

The Mexico Cards Audit Team is led by Audit Owner and will comprise seven auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As professional that applies solid understanding of internal audit standards, policies, and local regulations to provide timely audit assurance.

  • Contributes to the development of audit processes improvements.

  • Understanding of how internal audit collectively integrates with line management and control functions to accomplish the objectives of the function and overall business.

  • Performs testing moderately complex audits related to Cards (e.g., Operations, Risks, Product and Sales), or in accordance with corporate methodologies and professional standards.

  • Monitors the risk environment and assesses the emerging risks through the Business Monitoring process.

  • Executes Internal Audit and Regulatory issue validation, when needed.

  • Recommends appropriate and pragmatic solutions to risk and control issues.

  • Applies knowledge of key regulations to influence audit scope.

  • Develops effective line management relationships to ensure strong understanding of the business.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • Two or more years of working experience in control roles or functions in the Banking Industry, Risk Management unit audits or Cards business (e.g., Operations, Risk management, Compliance, Statutory audits).

  • Beginner level experience in a related role with experience in business.

  • Understanding of of local regulation and related risks and controls.

  • Experience in the Financial Services Industry is desirable.

  • Effective communication skills. This individual must be an articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, and approachable style.

  • Effective interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of internal and external audit and management.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
