Materials planner responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring the movement of material through the production cycle. To work with the value stream manager, manufacturing depts., and external vendors in order to determine quantity and order dates for materials which meet production/engineering schedules and delivery requirements. To initiate purchase or production requisitions and to develop production schedules based on forecasts and historical analysis. To develop forecasts/plans for labor requirements and specs and new contract orders.

The position directly influences the short-term business performance of the company in terms of target attainment, controls the response to customer orders, the amount of money tied up in stock and the work load in the Production departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the key planning team point of contact for your products, manage all internal customer calls, and determine what action to take and communicating information as required to the rest of the team.

  • Arrange the manufacture or the purchase of stock to meet promised deliveries against customer orders, to monitor inventory levels and production loading and to best utilize the resources of the department.

  • Responsible for control of inventory levels; depending on demand to ensure sufficient stock is available whilst at the same time ensuring an optimum stock turn – through effective planning and requisitioning of componentry.

  • Receive requests for expedites from the VSM, customer service organization and decide on appropriate action to meet the needs of our customers.

  • Determine priorities, liaising as required with other internal functions e.g. VSM, product management and customer service group.

  • Work with manufacturing to agree a plan and communicate this across the organization.

  • Ensure order status are complete and any changes do not cause delays

  • Represent the planning team on logistics projects relating to your products.

  • Support and drive TE’s target of an injury free workplace through involvement in site Environmental, Health & Safety continuous improvement activities.

  • Work in accordance with all TE Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with all current legislation.

  • Support and drive all TEOA lean manufacturing continuous improvement activities and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience required.

  • APICS or equivalent qualification in planning with a prior experience in a manufacturing environment desirable.

  • Computer literate with an understanding of MS Office, SAP preferred

  • Strong communication skills, the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment, work collaboratively with your peers and train others if needed. Particular focus for this role is placed on a clear and professional telephone manner and the ability to build cross business (internal/external) relationships both on the phone, email and face to face.

  • Self-motivation - be able to work under pressure, be flexible, reliable and able to deliver results according to specific targets in direct support of departmental goals and objectives.

  • Apply broad skills and knowledge of both product and planning theory and principles, combined with a methodical/analytical approach, to priorities, resolve or generate ideas on problems/situations of varying scope and complexity.
