Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the Import-Export Department and all logistics process across the board
  • Manage the movement of materials, products and/or equipment in and/or out of the country in accordance with organizational policy and procedures and in compliance with local and international law
  • Manage the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution of all import-export activities
  • Responsible for the reconciliation, accuracy and maintenance of the Import-Export Annex 24 system database (Inventories, Bill of Materials, HTS, ECCN, Items Cost updates, etc.), Annex 31 Reports and VAT Balance Control to ensure retention and compliance of VAT Certification
  • Maintain a reconciled and accurate Fixed Asset Data base between company systems and physical inventory
  • Manage operational freight cost and drive all activities to optimize the transportation services through the supply chain
  • Support the Trade Compliance Manager to insert trade compliance triggers into existing procedures covering exports, product development and collaborative work projects
  • Assist the Trade Compliance Manager with the development of an in-country export controls and to identify possible risks
  • Support the Trade Compliance Manager with NAFTA and other Duty Deferral programs implementation and control
  • Support the Trade Compliance policies and procedures in adherence to Esterline’s Trade Right Initiatives and Trade Compliance Manager requirements related with it
  • Stay current with all applicable compliance regulation and act as subject matter expert between the organization to ensure any risk to business is minimized
  • Should be capable to deal with situations where non-Mexican export regulations apply and come at the issue with a global scope
  • Maintain good relations with vendors, internal and external customers
  • Drive the closure of local action items with the businesses to ensure systems or procedures are kept on schedule to meet the local management requirements
  • Manage language and communications translations issues related with customs as necessary to comply with customs and updated new releases of internal instructions, operating manuals and department training
  • Manage all staff reporting to the position as effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities
  • Plan and implement import-export strategy and activities consistent with overall aims and requirements of the organization
  • Liaise with other departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant import-export activities.
  • Perform all internal and external audits required prior disclosures for all processes and supervise the efficiency of all external agents such as cross dock warehouse, freight carriers and customs brokers that we work with
  • Control all the file record required by government agency’s (pedimentos, invoices, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of IMMEX (Mexican Maquiladora)
  • Understanding of Mexican and US Customs Regulations
  • Detail oriented individual who strives for the correct level of detail in the procedures
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Project Management experience

  • Bachelor Degree in “Licenciatura en Comercio exterior y Aduanas” or similar

  • Minimum 5+ years of related job experience
  • Bilingual
