The Strategic Projects Team for North America Purchasing (previously known as the NAM Rebalance Engine or Rebalancing Team) is a recognized and dynamic cross-functional project management organization (Project Managers, Supplier Quality Engineers, Project Engineers & Project Buyers).

We oversight the pipeline & results for all NAM Purchasing Projects like:

  • COS (Change of Suppliers - supplier transfers)

  • REB (COS Rebalance - transfers from Mature to New Economies

  • QVE (Quality Value Engineering – Technical Product Cost Optimization).

Our main responsibility is planning and executing the critical/complex projects on these areas. Due to the expertise & competencies developed by the team, we are also the reference for spreading project management processes and practices across the NAM Purchasing organization.

The Project Manager - Strategic Projects NAM Purchasing is responsible to lead the cross-functional team to successfully develop, sell & execute the projects aligned to the purchasing strategy. The PM is co-responsible to build & support a solid pipeline of projects and coach the organization on best project management practices.

Some key activities:

  • Participates on "Idea to Project Execution" activities to fill project pipeline

  • Develops & support the Purchasing Team to create solid business cases

  • Sells the project and benefits to the Business

  • Provides management and support for team members

  • Leads all the actions necessary to carry out the project until closed

  • Performs schedule, quality, cost and critical activities tracking against the plan

  • Manages within the established performance, schedule and budget constraints

  • Identifies issues and risks, coordinate and track action plans

  • Prepares stage gates decisions and report progress to the stakeholders

  • Leads discussions with team and proper parties when discrepancies

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional experience within Purchasing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or Project Management. Cross-functional experience is a plus. It's desirable that the candidate has been part of a project before.

  • Excellent communication skills are a must (both Spanish & English)

  • Team player and leadership skills

  • Organized, dynamic, proactive, team leadership & process driven but pragmatic

  • Able to achieve results via Influence

  • PMP Training or Certification is a plus

  • Able to travel (up to 15%) domestically in Mexico as well as internationally to USA (USA visa is required)
