The Oracle Commerce Consulting Project Manager’s primary

purpose is to provide leadership on planning, staffing, and executing Endeca

and ATG-related activities associated with Oracle Commerce Consulting

engagements. Working in conjunction with Consulting Sales Representatives,

Practice Managers, Resource Management, and other Team Leaders, the Project

Manager provides guidance on engagement estimation and scoping, triage, risk

assessment, and resource assignment.

Expertise and work efforts focus primarily on overseeing consulting engineers

in the field of Endeca delivery, ensuring quality of project deliverables, and

acting as liaison to customer leadership on the project team. The Project

Manager operates under minimal supervision and demonstrates proactive work

habits when overseeing the activities of Oracle Commerce Consultants in North

America. The Project Manager achieves results through strong subject matter

expertise, leadership, collaboration, and teamwork. The ability to communicate

effectively with team members and others within the customer organization is a

must. The Project Manager will often coach other customer or partner personnel

on best practices and technical issues and is expected to be capable of

delivering a tailored message to C-level customer or partner executives as

required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Management – delivering what has been sold within the agreed time

table, budget and quality metrics. Assisting customers to achieve the expected

business benefits

  • Direct project delivery through progress tracking, scope management, and risk

assessment and management

  • Client Management – acting as a trusted advisor to customers on all

aspects of OCC engagements within an account

  • Team Management – managing the full deployment team

  • Industry Knowledge – providing customers with Oracle Commerce industry best

practices

  • Functional Expertise – providing customers with Oracle Commerce functional

expertise to drive the discovery/requirements phase of a project


  • Pre-Sales Support – working with the Engagement Manager / Practice

Manager to support follow-on opportunities within the customer

  • Collaborate with Consulting Sales Representatives to provide Sales support in

customer meetings and in response to RFPs, etc.

  • Contribute to the growth of the Oracle Commerce Deployment competency center

through the creation and sharing of knowledge on project experiences

  • Create and/or provide final review of high-quality project deliverables,

including Search Tuning or Audit documents

Essential Skills, Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math or related field is

preferred. A combination of 10 years of experience in relevant industry

business practices, business consulting, and/or technical consulting is

required; retail and telecommunications sectors are most desired. In addition,

the following are critical skills required (or desired, where noted) to perform

well in this position:

  • Experience leading professional service/consulting teams; experience as a

Project Manager

  • Proven track record delivering projects on time and on budget while achieving

performance milestones and exceeding client expectations

  • Excellent problem-solving, research and analysis, technical, team building,

and leadership skills

  • Experience utilizing waterfall or agile methodologies

  • Ability to write and deliver technical documents to internal and external

clients

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer-facing skills at all

levels of a customer organization

  • Solid presentation skills, great at developing rapport with customers and

partners

  • Ability to participate in Sales-pursuit meetings and provide technical

commentary

  • Ability to adjust communication content to a wide range of audiences (e.g.

technical developers to C-level executives)

  • Proficiency with project-based tools such as Word, Excel, Project, as well as

others

  • PMP or CSM certification is a plus

Operates independently to provide quality work products to an engagement. Performs varied and complex duties and tasks that need independent judgment, in order to implement Oracle products and technology to meet customer needs. Applies Oracle methodology, company procedures, and leading practices.

May act as the team lead on projects, providing coaching, guidance and feedback to develop skills of team members. Effectively consults with management of customer organizations. Participates in business development activities. Develops and leads detailed solutions for moderately complex projects.

6-8 years of experience relevant to this position including 3-4 years consulting experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Ability to travel as needed.
