General Information:

TransCanada has a history of natural gas pipeline infrastructure development in Mexico. We have built effective relationships and an excellent corporate reputation in the country. Mexico is a part of our North American strategy and our objective is to grow our position in Mexico's natural gas transmission business.

As a result of continued growth in our Supply Chain Management (SCM) group, a Supply Chain Manager based in Mexico is needed. The position will have the responsibility to sustain and execute procurement and contracting strategies to obtain the goods and services required for operations and shared services including supplier lifecycle management, fleet and accounts payable. The role will report to a Director of Supply Chain in Houston, USA. This position will collaborate with Major Projects SCM managers in Mexico.

Responsibilities:

  • Proven capability to oversee day to day management and work prioritization and assignment between Mexico City, Field Operations and North America operational support, including areas such as: Procurement, Contracts, Vendor Qualification, Fleet coordination and accounts payable;

  • Drive strategy within the region and identify short-to-long term business goals, objectives and potential improvements;

  • Ensure the Mexico operations and business initiatives are in alignment with TransCanada/SCM overall business objectives;

  • Lead SCM operations to meet revenue and/or budget, savings/avoidance projections;

  • Further expand the business through the establishment of local joint venture agreements, strategic partnerships, and organic growth;

  • Play a key role in identifying, quantifying and facilitating SCM opportunities in Mexico and serve as the one of the key contacts with Mexico leadership;

  • Act as a primary interface to operations customers, partners, suppliers, and other regional stakeholders;

  • Support negotiations with suppliers and customers and contract discussions;

  • Effectively collaborate to build and maintain SCM infrastructure development –team management, recruiting, onboarding, orientation and performance management and development of individuals in the team;

  • Collaborate with SCM teams in Mexico, Canada, and United States to develop best practice strategies and share success projects for the Mexico business operations;

  • Other duties as required. Qualifications and Education: Qualifications and Abilities:

  • 10 or more years of progressive experience in Supply Chain/Procurement;

  • Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Construction or Engineering background;

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills;

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Team player with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in cross-functional teams;

  • Demonstrated Leadership skills/experience;

  • Strong commercial aptitude and negotiation skills;

  • Knowledgeable in all facets of supply chain management, procurement, contract formation, RFP processes and administration;

  • Strong critical analysis and problem solving skills;

  • Strong facilitation, influencing, and decision making skills;

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing environment;

  • Capability and flexibility to respond to critical deadlines, and changing project priorities and requirements.

  • . Education:

  • Requires a University degree, completion of PMAC program with C.P.P. or a Supply Chain designation is a strong asset;

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;

  • Competency in SCM systems, tools, and SAP;

  • Proven fluency in Spanish and English is a requirement at a business/professional level.
