Amazon seeks a Senior Leader to head the finance business team for our recently launched Mexico business (role based in Mexico City). The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and welcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. He/she will be resourceful and be comfortable navigating uncertainty (enjoy getting his/her hands dirty). The role will straddle tactical, day-to-day functions and strategic design activities. The individual will have the opportunity to be a startup CFO and critical finance partner to the Mexico General Manager responsible for driving our Retail business. As such, this individual will help build a business from the ground up. He/she will lead financial planning, forecasting and analysis; implement, develop and standardize financial reports and processes; develop short and long term operational plans; and develop analytical models and key performance indicators to measure overall financial performance. The individual must have strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with the Mexico business team as well as cross-functional counterparts. He/she will implement and drive the core financial processes for the business including Annual Operating Plans, Long Term Strategic Plans, Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews, coordination and reporting on financials for R&O (Risks and Opportunities), and development of ad-hoc projects. Additional responsibilities include driving process improvements that help generate Free Cash Flow. Above all, he/she will be hands on with a start-up mentality and have a strong desire to help shape a rapidly expanding business in a dynamic marketplace.

The successful candidate will completely own the Mexico P&L, will lead across diverse finance and cross-functional business areas, and will actively manage the top and bottom line health of the Mexico business. This individual will provide strategic guidance and decision support in this rapidly growing space.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Controllership of these businesses

  • Leading ad hoc financial analyses and new business development deals

  • Leading and participating as the key finance stakeholder in cross functional teams

  • Managing the reporting on weekly financial and operational performance metrics

  • Driving long and short term financial planning

  • Providing direction and mentoring to finance team members

  • Driving cross-business analytic projects for senior management, with financial modeling, data mining and presentation support

  • Creating, improving, and maintaining long-term strategic finance models including market segment share analysis, P&L expectations, and cash flow analysis with sensitivities.

  • BA/BS degree or certificate of completion

  • 3+ years of Finance experience

  • Fluency in Spanish and English

  • 3+ years of experience working in analytics, financial modeling and reporting

  • 3+ years of experience using Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with financial and accounting systems (COGNOS, Essbase, Oracle)

  • MBA preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication and poise to support Executive reviews

  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

  • Ability to translate large amounts of data into useful information and actionable items

  • Direct experience in Retail or Operations (FC, Trans, Supply Chain) a strong plus but not necessary

  • Strong analytic skills and a demonstrated ability to build and manage financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving

  • Ability to work with cross functional teams, dive deep into the details
