The Sr. Virtualization Administrator is responsible for administering, building, troubleshooting, and maintaining internal and external production systems. The candidate must be able to perform moderate to difficult technical and administrative tasks. The candidate will be supporting the underlying technologies related to managed Hybrid and Public Cloud initiatives. This candidate should be an effective communicator, strong team player, and able to participate in a 7x24 on-call support rotation.
Candidate must have a strong knowledge of enterprise level VMware Administration, including VMware architecture, data store management, virtual network configuration, vCenter configuration and management, and VDI support. Heavy emphasis on NSX. Typical duties will include documenting the configuration of the system, troubleshooting any reported problems, and system performance tuning, and acting as 3rd tier escalation point for L2 support teams.
The candidate should possess the following technical skills
Must be a VMware expert
VMware vSphere, NSX
Ability to provide 3rd tier technical support to both IT and enterprise customers.
Identification and resolution of individual and system issues which result in or potentially result in disruption to services provided.
Experience with Enterprise level concepts and implementations
Understanding of network topologies and datacenter concepts
Strong documentation and reporting skills
Horizon View experience a major plus
VMware vSphere 6
Public cloud experience including AWS and SoftLayer
Linux system administration experience desired
Knowledgeable on Microsoft Windows Server (2008 and later), Active Directory, and Group Policy
Build out complex VMware environments in public cloud and hosted environments
Contributes to the team effort in the administration and troubleshooting of VMware issues.
Helps document solutions, including build and maintenance plans
Installs new software releases and system upgrades; evaluates and installs patches; and resolves software-related problems
Identifies and resolves errors or problems with the existing environment
Contributes to a healthy interpersonal and team-oriented environment
Is customer service minded and develops and maintains cordial, effective partnerships with business area and other Information Technology and Services employees
Ensures that Our Client’s best practices are followed for the delivery, implementation and maintenance of systems by employees and contractors
VMware VCP6-DCV, NV
Minimum 7 years of administration and implementation of VMware environments
