Responsible for optimizing manufacturing methods for safe production of high-quality products at the lowest possible costs. In addition, this individual is the main engineering focal point for production line issues for products after Production Release. Responsible for the application of statistical methods for process validation, monitoring, and improvement. Other responsibilities include project management for capital equipment upgrades and replacements, as well as validation of existing processes and equipment. Will work closely with new product development engineering during pilot phase of projects to ensure a timely production release.

Essential Functions:

  • Apply structured problem solving approach to provide solutions for complex process, equipment, and assembly issues

  • Initiate and drive systemic improvement activities, including streamlining, standardization of documentation, change control, quality, and transfer processes, implementing quality and safety controls and improvements.

  • Sustain safety controls.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation.

  • Provide advanced technical support to production lines and other engineers. Become a subject matter expert in field.

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.

  • Tool and fixture design using 3D modeling software (Pro/E preferred).

  • Plan and execute DOE/statistical methods to drive continuous improvement

  • Provide global technical and operational support (collaboration, technology transfers, etc)..

  • Drive global standardization of processes/products.

  • Initiate and drive cost reduction activities

  • Experience leading, performing, or defining new equipment installations and/or upgrades

  • Mentor others (operators, technicians, and other engineers)

  • Influence others

  • Excellent ownership of problems

  • Excellent customer service (both internal and external)

  • Ability to work extended days and hours as needed to meet business needs

  • Ability to work modified shifts (nights or weekends) to meet business needs.

  • Five or more years experience in engineering or related field.

  • B.S. in Engineering

  • Six Sigma Green Belt training (Black belt preferred).

  • Experience with structured problem solving (8D, 7D, etc)

  • Strong analytics (SPC, DOE, etc)

  • High volume manufacturing experience preferred

  • In-Depth knowledge of advanced manufacturing methods and systems

  • Excellent mechanical or electrical design skills

  • Proficient in advanced problem solving skills including statistical analysis

  • Excellent communications skills (oral & written)

  • Excellent Project Management Skills

  • Strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, CAD, project management)

  • English language advanced, able to communicate written and spoken

  • Effective human relations and negotiation skills.
