Solutions Engineer, MEX/BRA in Cuautitlan Izcalli, Mexico

GENERAL SUMMARY: Amazon is seeking a detail oriented Solutions Engineer to perform concept and design development of new and existing fulfillment center layouts in our Mexican and Brazilian fulfillment networks. Successful candidates will be natural self-starters who have the drive to design, model, estimate and manage new fulfillment center conception and design processes. This individual will provide leadership in managing the process while working with Operations, Start-Up, Launch and other support teams. The Solutions Engineer will be expected to deep dive problems and drive relentlessly towards creative solutions. This individual needs to be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization in order to be successful. This individual will have knowledge and experience with Mexican and Brazilian regulations, building codes, customs and requirements in order


· Design and develop engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges considering human/ equipment interactions for Mexico and Brazil fulfillment networks

· Lead and coordinate design and concept development efforts for optimal solutions through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and site layout

· Develop, document and update design standards in conjunction with worldwide design teams

· Work closely with the new FC start-up team and launch team to ensure that every detail is thought through and documented using a layout or Standard Operating Procedure and change control

· Work closely with vendors, suppliers and other teams to come up with innovative solutions

· Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors

· Conduct post mortem on designs after implementation in partnering with Safety and Operations

· Have a good understanding of operational processes in order to constantly search for creative process improvement ideas

· Work closely with Operations, Safety, IT, Facilities, Finanace on designing, gaining approval for and implementing process improvement projects


Position is responsible to interface with all organizations within the company. Works closely with Engineering, Worldwide Design team, Start-up, Launch, Procurement, Information Technology, Loss Prevention, Facilities, Safety and Operations

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Industrial/ Process Engineering required

· 3 years + experience in CAD with ability to work and manage layers, xrefs, blocks, paper space

· Understanding of local regulations, building codes, requirements

· Ability to lead small groups

· Ability to communicate to various audiences

· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, be flexible

· Superior communication skills, including the ability to effectively manage, influence, negotiate, and communicate with external business partners and internal teams to meet organizational capacity needs

· Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English

· Ability to travel up to 25%

· Minimum of 1 year experience drawing in a warehouse or fulfillment center environment

· Basic knowledge of material handling and storage systems

· Conveyor design and layout experience

· Experience in 3D CAD software is a plus

· Experience in using advanced simulation modeling tools is a plus

· Ability to communicate effectively in Portuguese
