Honeywell PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER I in Chihuahua, Mexico

Based at Chihuahua, Mexico. This position will provide support for new and existing products including environmental control systems, aircraft propulsion engines and auxiliary power units. Primary responsibilities include support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of aircraft propulsion engines and auxiliary power units part families.

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for entry level engineering responsibilities. Uses basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals to complete defined project subtasks. May interact with internal customers and team members in order to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications.


The main customers of this position are the Honeywell manufacturing unit located in Chihuahua, Mexico, Supply Chain personnel (Sourcing) as well as the Honeywell engineering facilities and supply base in the region.

Short term include becoming MPE Liaison for the Design and Applications groups located in Phoenix, transitions support, specification maintenance, process documentation, support the determination of Root Cause and Corrective Action, process compliance associated with process escapes, and identification, proposal and support of opportunities for cost reduction.

Mid and Long term include support design reviews and technical review of drawings and specifications, design support and approval of suppliers and components, conducting maintenance audits to ensure specification and failure analysis. Train and enable suppliers to comply with Honeywell procedures for special & fixed process approvals.

Technical skills include a broad understanding of materials, processing and applications, understanding of mechanical and design requirements for aerospace components, effective communication and participation on teams with considerable focus in manufacturing and design process focused. Train and mentors suppliers in various aspects of materials and process engineering. The main customers of this position are the Honeywell engineering and manufacturing units and Supply Chain personnel (Sourcing) as well as the supply base.

Basic Qualifications: • Successful candidates will be a University graduate with at least a BS degree in chemical engineering, metallurgy / materials engineering or other suitable engineering degree. • Basic understanding of materials, processes and applications • English Proficient, good verbal and written communications.

Additional Qualifications: Required: • Willingness to work effectively in cross functional teams, to listen, influence and lead as needed. • Technical writing, prepare reports. • Basic teamwork skills, able to work in a variety of team roles within cross-functional teams • Broad written and oral communication skills

Desired • Experience in the aerospace industry or with a supplier to aerospace industry preferred, with at least 1 year of experience in a materials engineering, manufacturing engineering or materials processing job. Experience must include working in chemical processing, heat treatment, welding, brazing and other processes. • Experience must include working in a chemical processing cell/facility. e.g. writing work instructions, developing process parameters, trouble shooting, and may also include auditing the process. • M Sc. or M. Eng. degree • Must be dedicated to customer satisfaction and demonstrated capability to establish and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers, customers and coworkers
